E-Books or Real Books

Or

Do ask yourself now, which would you prefer E-Books or Real Books? And Why?

If you chose E-books, could it be you preferred it better because it's more modern? More edgy? and Portable?

And if you chose real books, why?

Nowadays bookstores are struggling to sell their books. They're giving off discounts, free books and good deals, this is what is happening now in London. Since the the mini tablets that performs the same as computers, they offer an application for electronic books. Books that you can read either online or with the use of downloading it first. Sure, it's a nice treat to have many books just on the palm of your hand but have we lost the idea on which we started love reading from?

Books and yes, REAL books. Books with papers in them, with every single letter printed in ink. Books that comes in paperbacks or hardcovers. It is from books that we actually gain our interest in reading and also where our imagination starts to go wild with every story you read.

Yes it's true that e-books and real books contains the similar contents of a book. I'm leaving all that to your judgement, but...

In my opinion, real books are better. Do we rely so much on technologies nowadays that it has changed our perspectives upon books? Before there were the mini tablets, the internet and heck, even the computer, our fingers has brushed pages of books of different kinds, the story books, dictionaries, encyclopedias.

The way I like my book is that when i turn each page of a book i choose, it'll make my imagination leap and wonder how the story is going to continue.

The sound of flipping pages, the hug that you give the book after you finished reading it and you loved it,  even the smell of the book itself, the smell that shows it might be old or a freshly published book. Sometimes I would sniff the book I'm reading and trust me, i'm not the only one who does that.

What a libraries built for? Keeping books. Yes, it's true. Isn't it weird to find a library that has mini tablets on the shelves instead of binded books of every story and shades of colour. But if you'll like to stick with technology, i'm not blaming, it's always your choice anyway, but remember where all the e-books stories have once came from =D
By the way, i'm currently waiting for my copy of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan book to arrive. Quite a children's . book, but i'm just young at heart. Tata now~ bye~ =)

College On Trail

Hello my sweet readers! I'm back and I have to say I'm sorry that it has been a while since I last blogged and I left off with a New Year rhyme to say good bye to 2010 and hello to 2011.

Yes, 2011! Well the year started good, surprisingly exciting as well. If I'm not mistaken, there was a post about starting college early and since I got selected to be one of the trail batches for college, I said to myself " Eh, what the heck. Might as well give it a try than spending another 2 months of holiday"

I know when you read that you must think I'm nuts trading in holidays for school. To be honest I was already bored and I mean really really really bored from the NOT even 1 month holiday. It's funny that during long holidays I tend to forget how to write. So, yes basically to avoid further forgetting simple studies I chose to enroll college to sharpen things up a bit. Get my head back to the game.

College so far is fun. And FYI the college I go to now is Meragang Sixth Form. Six form here is considered college. the first taste of college was awkward, you know the feeling that you get when go to another school. Yup, that was the feeling only maybe worse because during our trial time at college we have to wear out previous school uniform! I know, OMG! and I just realised that college here is not like the college in America or is it any closer to the high school there as well. There's no bullies trashing your lunch tray, no atomic wedggies only one thing that we have to becareful when it comes to seats at the canteen....

DO NOT DROP YOUR CHAIR OR MAKE A HAPPY BIRTHDAY SONG A FAIL... Or else expect a loud boo or woo from the seniors. It's a major embarrassment if it happened.

The subject Herr has a good selection. It's wise and so obvious that choosing a subject that is to your forte is essential. Take a subject and don't understand, don't bother to take it for A levels. Oh the classes! OMG! If segways are provided it would be a grand but NO. You got only 5 minutes to get from one class to another. The classes are far and if only you're lucky, your classes might be in the same wing of the building. And if you ever think you have time to go and let some load or water out in the toilet, don't bother it would be tough luck cause you won't have the minutes to reach to your next destination in time. Best way is to go during break or lunch. And if you ca't hold itkuch longer be sure to be in your class first that way the teaher would know you ain't escaping.

Oh there isnt much signal connection there as well, LOL. A way to stop using phones in class.

Well I guess that's it for now. I got to revise. Some teachers in this college give surprise tests.

Goodbye 2010, Hello 2011

Good & Bad.
Happy & Sad.
Laughter & Cries.

It's not wonder why, that you 2010 have given me a lot this year.
Advices were given, tho some went out the ear.
Now I'm counting on you 2011, for i have no fear.
Bring on what you have, but do be a dear.
Bring my friendship not far, but even near.

The future is, i will not know.
But for what i'm sure that here won't snow.
So there 2011, that's my Welcome greeting to you.
And for you 2010, it's about time to toodle-loo~ =)

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!

The Trade In For Another Chapter

The whole year is coming to an end and as you can realize that my blog hasn't been much active this year but that is all coming to an end well for now. School work has made it's way to the teacher's desk, the exam papers are flown to Cambridge and soon to be burn down in a furnace after 3 months to leave space for the next batch ( i really wish the authorities would just give back the paper after they marked it. The purpose to learn from our mistakes is my reasoning).

Now taking out the Relax Card that I've been saving the whole year as a reward for a good job in finally passing through the exams phase. Recently I have been thinking and i am willing to trade in 1/3 of my Relax Card opportunities for the next stepping platform in life. The next stepping platform that basically having the grip upon the occupation for me in the later life. Yes, the trade in is for stepping on to the world and experiences of college from the world of high school. Though all would be dearly missed, the juniors, the teachers, the principal, the staffs, the facilities and of course the memories that we have engraved in our previous school (SM YSHHB ). This new chapter in life is what the exam was worth doing.

College. Wow...i just realized that HAHA . So Yup, college. Actually there isn't much for me to say about it. I'm nervous and the term have not even begun. Well, I kinda got accepted before the end of the year to Meragang  College ( Pusat Tingkatan Enam Meragang/ Meragang Sixth Form )....please readers i am clearly not trying to be vain here (if that's what you're thinking, well..i'm not). I'm just very thankful i could get into college.

Though i got through the registration phase, the subjects are what holding back my dream..well,  i guess my dream was crushed on the day i was given the "wake-up call"  for choosing the subject and where in the real world i would end up with. Being in the medical stream was my dream since i was young ( well i'm still young, come on 16 coming on to 17. That's not old. Back to when i was young-ER ), doctors, nurses, pharmacist. That dream is now crushed to fragments but those fragments what will become my hope to achieve. The thought of ending up in the medical stream is now out of my head and i seem lost. Maths was the one i'm lacking of. And it was Maths that hold me back from the walking down my dream. A career counselor from the college gave me an advice and an option to choose what subjects that i would be capable of. Maths, the one subject that he mention to almost all subjects, namely Chemistry, Physics and to careers, Doctors, Pharmacist, Nurse, EngineersMaths. I love it, but IT hates me. During exams, i stumble onto mistakes but for revisions it seems an average can-do subject. Maybe Maths is not in my blood, but as so i wish it would.

Over all i would like to thank the career counsellor for showing me the truth of how maths is so important, the advice he gives changed my so to speak attitude towards subjects =)

Despite the Maths problem, the subject that i will be taking by starting for the new term is. Biology, Geography, Psychology, Business and English (which is a compulsory, which i will surely enjoy =) ). These subjects are for the start-off term. And after i receive my Oct/Nov O'level results and accepted into the college again, teachers recommend to drop off one of the subjects that seems not to my capabilities. So, at the end, only 4 subjects are to go on for the exams of A'levels. Hopefully  it will all go well. Especially for Biology, Psychology and English those must be my favourite subjects and i'm willing to excel in it.

Allah the Almighty please be with me!

So, long story short. I'm trading in 1/3 of my O'level holidays for start-off college year. Some students may think it's crazy to start school in January when it's supposed to be a holiday..(Oh No, my birthday's in January..school..aww mahn=/ ) and some may say " relax relax". I think i have done a lot of relaxing time already. 3 days relaxation is enough for me, let alone 3 months??  My fingers won't know how to write in that time period! Starting college early has it's advantages, early start and by the time March enters with new students that subject will be scanned through again. But to every advantage there's a disadvantage. The catch to going into college in January, that when the results are out in Feb the staffs will look through the results and if you made the requirements, no change is needed. But when it is not made with the requirements, it's down back to high school even if you entered the college in January *GULP* i know.

*sigh* I  CAN'T WAIT FOR STATIONERY SHOPPING!!!!!!!

Catching Up...

Wow, was it that long since my last post? 5th September?? That was still during the Ramadhan month! Wow..you can criticize me all you want but I have a very reasonable answer why this whole year I've not been blogging as much as I was last year. Answer; well if I'm not mistaken, there was a post regarding my big O'level exams this year and i'm having hard time to find an empty slot for blogging, obviously I couldn't find any.

Eventhough there were some weekends when I was free, but after a whole week of intense revision, menace and drama around school and those Mondays when there was no chance of sitting in class, the whole day the students would either run, jogged, power walk to our different classes which takes place at different places of the school...and we all end up exhausted before the last period of the day AHAHA

After all those extra classes. tuitions, revisions.. I am now in the midst of the October/November O'level examination. Papers went well and there were some tiny bits of doubt, but what's done is done. All I can do now is to get ready for the next paper. There's been news spreading about a leakage for the question papers for Chemistry 2 because of a clash in the time table. It was hetic. Just hope there won't be any retest, because it won't be fair for THOSE who took the paper truthfully. Not those who leaked it out and cause a whole night's drama. If there's a retest then give it those who leaked it. Don't give us the punishment that we don't deserve. NOT FAIR....don't try to say life is not fair. In this case, it will affect our future.

There were also news about the Form 6 admission will start early on January next year than what the admission that usually start in March when the results are out. Heard the news a few days ago. And the early admission might be compulsory. My friends and I disagree with this. It was supposed to be a choice, either start the Form 6 early or at a later date in March. We were looking foward for the 3 months holidays for the whole year. It's not what we had in mind at all. At all. Better not make it a real must. It ain't fun you know.

Well, i should stop this post. Tata~

On The Go : The Feeling Of Waiting When Tired

I'm now waiting at a restaurant, tired. Moody might be emerging any moment...or maybe it's just not my day.

I might feel tired because i just remembered there's extra class tomorrow eventhough it's a holiday (but it's worth it) and tuition at night. That feeling of anxiety kills the mood sometimes.

Have you ever felt the time goes by longer when you're waiting and feeling tired at the same time? It's annoying right? Hell yeah it is? But until you find something to do, time goes by pretty fast. Which is what i'm doing now, blogging...waiting for the time to pass by.

Adios now readers =D

This Time It's Africa

"Life is rhythm, football is rhythm and I feel the rhythm when I am in South Africa." - Sepp Batller
"We at FIFA are working very hard in South Africa with South Africa to ensure that the World Cup will happen in South Africa."- Jerome Valke

Wow. Have you ever heard someone said the word "South Africa" 3 times in a sentence?

Yes, it's been 4 years already since the last FIFA World Cup held in Germany back in 2006. When Italia won and France became the runner-up. This time, it's Africa! South Africa to be precise.

( love this video, colourful and full of energy, the song's catchy too =) and there's the beautiful Shakira )
In about 13 hours from this post, TV stations (ie. Astro) all over the world will be broadcasting the game live! It's the time when football (soccer NOT rugby) fans go crazy, cheering for their chosen country, buying the football jersey to support the country and of course, sacrifice their sleeping time for the sake of the game. People waited every four years for this event, just like the Olympics. Only that this event is focusing on one sport. FOOTBALL.

To tell you readers the truth, i haven't figure out which country to support. Since so many of the top players was injured during the warm-ups before the real day. It's not looking too good for some of the counties since their key players were one of the injured players.

Maybe i would choose France since during their warm-ups they have doing a good job, and maybe there's hope for England or maybe Italia would win for another year...maybe Brazil will add another star to their jersey. I simply can't choose, i'll just support any country along the way then =)

Tata now, don't be missing the game =D

Blog Makeover

"Thought to give it a renovation, a new change"
So i guess you readers must have seen the change on my blog page. Yes, more earthy isn't it? Well i thought that the page needs more colour on the background. There won't be much colour in my text now, as i would like to keep things simple and only express them with words.  And i did some changes to the link, it is now http://www.yasminxjamal.blogspot.com/ , guess i got too attatched to my Twitter name.

Yes, i have a Twitter and i'm quite active in it than Facebook or Blogger. So be sure to follow me on Twitter, just click the little blue birdie on the side column and you're on your way to follow me =)

The new renovation calls for a different type on post now too. I'm figuring i should have equal side of whats going on in my life (happy ones only) and what's going on around me.

Let's say an example of what's going on in my life: Well, HOLIDAYS thankyou God! waited so long for the time.

And for what's going on around me: Well, I'm busy finding some of my picture that shows MY Brunei, as i'm participating a contest on Twitter created by BruneiTweet. Prize is a limited edition of a BruneiTweet t-shirt. I did sent 2 photos of MY Brunei, but to me..it wasn't enough. Which is why now, during this holiday, i'm preping up my camera and sharpening up my shutterbug skills.

So my post is going to be 50/50 of my life and my surrounding. And i might add up a post to show what i think of a certain topic. For example, the latest news (not really latest) the new licence plates for Brunei: A Waste.

So sort like that. So be sure to catch up, during this holiday, my spare time would be on studying and ofcourse trying to post a blog. =)

Tata now
